Meet the EDAM Board

Sarah (Say) Carnahan MA, MSW, LCSW

Therapist, educator, and advocate committed to compassionate eating disorder care.

Sarah (Say) Carnahan, she/her, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the Director of Mental Health and Counseling Services at the University of Maine Farmington.

Say earned her clinical Master of Social Work as well as her Master of Arts in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from The Ohio State University. While completing her graduate education, she received specialized training through The Center for Balanced Living, which was then an independent nonprofit eating disorder treatment center led by Dr. Laura Hill. The Center for Balanced Living has since become part of The Emily Program.

As a therapist, Say uses an integrative approach with a strong foundation in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She also has significant training and experience supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Say is passionate about providing consultation and education for professionals and community members who want to deepen their understanding of eating disorders and strengthen the care they provide.
