Empowered Body Expo

  • Wishcamper Center - USM Portland, Maine 04101 USA (map)

You’re invited to join us for the Empowered Body Expo, a special celebration in honor of National Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

On Saturday, March 2nd from 2:00–5:00 PM at the Wishcamper Center at USM, we will gather as a community to embrace body diversity, challenge harmful narratives about food and appearance, and create a space rooted in compassion and connection. This event is designed to be welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to anyone who is committed to shifting the conversation around food, weight, and body image.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees can explore local resources, connect with professionals and advocates, and participate in body-positive activities that encourage reflection, creativity, and self-awareness. Whether you are personally impacted by eating disorders, supporting someone in recovery, working in a helping profession, or simply passionate about fostering a more affirming culture, this event is for you.

In addition to the open expo space, we are offering a series of engaging workshops led by experienced local professionals:

2:15 PM – Intro to Dance Movement Therapy with Sandra Sneiderman, LCPC, BC-DMT
3:15 PM – Intuitive Eating with Amy Taylor Grimm, RDN, LD
4:15 PM – Emotions & What We Do With Them with Jane Prairie, LCSW and Kerry Anderson, MA

Workshops provide opportunities for deeper learning and experiential engagement. Registration is required to attend a workshop. You can learn more and reserve your spot here: https://goo.gl/forms/0ufZAQQfwJzkOlLs2

This event is FREE and open to the public.

The Empowered Body Expo is hosted by the Eating Disorders Association of Maine and co-sponsored by the Recovery Oriented Campus Center at USM. Together, we are working to promote awareness, reduce stigma, and cultivate spaces where all bodies are treated with dignity and respect.
